Ingram Takes Home The Heisman

Last night Alabama Running Back, Mark Ingram, beat out Stanford standout, Toby Gerhart, by only 28 points, the closest margin of victory in Heisman history. Ingram is the third consecutive Sophomore to win the Heisman trophy. following Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford. Mark put together a very impressive year for the # Ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. He's rushed for 1,542 yards on 249 carries, giving him a 6.2 yard average per carry. Ingram was also very effective in the passing game which has starred a first-year starter at Quarterback in Greg McElroy. He averaged nearly 8.5 yards every time he touched the ball, and contributed to the Bama's perfect season by scoring 18 Touchdowns on the season. Although he is the newest member of the Heisman fraternal order, his sights are set on Colt McCoy and the Texas Longhorns. The Crimson Tide and the Longhorns will be dueling it out for the BCS National Championship on January 7, 2009 in Pasadena, CA.

Clausen and Tate declare

Both Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate will forgo their Senior seasons to pursue the NFL. Both are predicted to go in the first round of April's draft. Tate could truly be a diamond in the rough come April. He is oddly similar to rookie standout Percy Harvin. Tate returns punts and kicks, runs the ball, and can catch the ball deep down the field. Being a former Running Back, Tate averages 11.7 yards every time he touches the ball. Averaging nearly 16 yards per reception and 7 yards per carry, Tate could prove to be a great offensive weapon at the next level. You could see Tate's stock drop if he doesn't run a great 40, but if he runs in the 4.4's watch for him to be picked up anywhere between the middle of round one to very early in round two.

Kiper is making similar moves???

This week Mel Kiper released his newest Big Board and has finally moved Jimmy Clausen up to #4 and moved Carlos Dunlap down due to his recent DUI charge. Clausen has been a favorite of mine all year and I still see him being the #1 overall selection to either the Rams or Browns. Dunlap's recent fall has him projecting in the middle of the first round, i have him going to the New York Jets

Mock DRAFT (11/09/09)

1. Browns: Jimmy Clausen-QB/Notre Dame

-In my eyes, he is the best Quarterback in the draft, aside form the injury prone Bradford. Clausen is a tough Quarterback who can throw on the run, sit in the pocket and face adversity. He's been very accurate and has put up Heisman type numbers this year.

2. Rams: Jake Locker-QB/Washington

3. Buccaneers: Ndamukong Suh-DT/Nebraska

4. Lions: Gerald McCoy-DT/Oklahoma

5. Chiefs: Eric Berry-S/Tennessee

6. Redskins: Sam Bradford-QB/Oklahoma

7. Raiders: Taylor Mays-S/USC

8. Titans: Carlos Dunlap-DE/Florida

9. Bills: Russell Okung-OT/Oklahoma St.

10. 49ers (f/Panthers): Joe Haden-CB/Florida

11. Seahawks: CJ Spiller-RB/Clemson

12. Jaguars: Derrick Morgan-DE/Georgia Tech

-The Jaguars are ranked dead last in the league in sacking the Quarterback with 5 sacks on the entire year. Morgan is the kind of End that could produce that many sacks within 2 games. If the Jags can pressure the passers their secondary will get the chance to make plays and the defense will be in much better shape.

13.Dolphins: Dez Bryant-WR/Oklahoma St.

14. Chargers: Jahvid Best-RB/California

15. Broncos (f/Bears): Rolando McClain-LB/Alabama

16. 49ers: Trent Williams-OT/Oklahoma

17. Jets: Arthur Jones-DE/Syracuse

18. Ravens: Arrelious Benn-WR/Illinois

19. Packers: Bryan Bulaga-OT/Iowa

20. Giants: Earl Thomas-S/Texas

21. Texans: Jonathan Dwyer-RB/Georgia Tech

-The Texans are on of those teams that are on the brink of being very very good. They need to be more consistent on Offense and Defense though. Their most inconsistent part of their team is the running game. Steve Slaton has had a Sophomore slump and Ryan Moats isn't a feature back. Dwyer can run in between the tackles or outside on the edge. He's a tough runner who is deceptively fast, and a great goal line scorer.

22. Falcons: Navorro Bowman-LB/Penn St.

23. Cardinals: Terrence Cody-NT/Alabama

24. Cowboys: Marvin Austin-DL/UNC

25. Bengals: Jermaine Gresham-TE/Oklahoma

26. Eagles: Sergio Kindle-OLB, DE/Texas

27. Steelers: Ras-I Dowling-CB/Virginia

28. Seahawks (f/Broncos): Charles Brown-OT/USC

29. Vikings: Tim Tebow-QB/Florida

-Sounds unlikely huh? The Vikes are set pretty much everywhere. They could use a little depth at linebacker or corner but what do they do if Favre goes down or retires... again! Tebow would be a great project for the Vikes, and has endless potential. He could be teamed up with his former receiver Percy Harvin.

30. Patriots: Greg Hardy-OLB, DE/Ole Miss

31. Colts: Anthony Davis-OT/Rutgers

32. Saints: Brandon Spikes-LB/Florida

MOCK DRAFT (10/20/09)

This is the first official Mock Draft. This has a lot of surprises. Some players going higher or lower than expected. Some team drafting based on best player available rather than need. The Raiders drafting for speed over talent again. And injury affecting the #1 overall pick.

1. Rams: Jimmy Clausen-QB/Notre Dame

-Clausen has had the best year of any of the top QB's in the draft and after the injury to Sam Bradford, he will rise to the top of everyones draft board.

2. Buccaneers: Ndamukong Suh-DT/Nebraska

-In my opinion, if the Bucs draft him they will have gotten the best player in the draft. Suh has put up ridiculous numbers every year for a struggling Nebraska team. Let's just say this, he averages 2 interceptions a year as a Defensive Tackle. Pretty Impressive.

3. Browns: Jake Locker-QB/Washington

-Locker is a guy who just creates offense like no other Quarterback can. He would be a perfect start to a new regime in Cleveland, because I can't see Eric Mangini as the coach again next season.

4. Raiders: Taylor Mays-S/USC

-The Raiders are dumb enough to pass on Eric Berry, Carlos Dunlap, and Sam Bradford. They want athletes who have a rare blend of size and speed. Mays is the perfect guy for that. Al Davis will absolutely love this guy.

5. Chiefs: Eric Berry-S/Tennessee

-The second best prospect in this draft. He has "Ed Reed-like" abilities, and lots of potential to become one of the best Safeties in the league. This would be a great pickup for the Chiefs and GM Scott Pioli.

6. Lions: Russel Okung-OT/Oklahoma St.

-This might come as a surprise that Detroit would actually pass on Carlos Dunlap, but they just invested a lot of money in their #1 overall pick from last year, Matthew Stafford, and they desperately need someone to protect his blind-side. This isn't a flashy pick but its a safe pick for the Lions at this point. Coach Jim Schwartz, formerly of the Titans, would make the decision to draft safe players and draft them a little bit higher than they were rated in many people's minds.

7. Titans: Carlos Dunlap-DE/Florida

-Carlos Dunlap is a top prospect, but hasn't performed up to par this season. The Titans could use a playmaker on their D-Line, and Dunlap is also a huge value at this point. Quarterback might actually be an option if Vince Young cannot produce some wins.

8. Redskins: Sam Bradford-QB/Oklahoma

-Great value pick here for the Skins. Bradford falls this low because of his injury, but the Redskins need a Quarterback after Jason Campbell putting up another disappointing season.

9. Bills: Gerald McCoy-DT/Oklahoma

-Gerald McCoy is an outstanding talent, he can rush the passer and stop the run all from his Defensive Tackle spot. The Bills have alot of holes on their squad and would love to grab Russell Okung if he falls to them but it doesn't look like that will happen. They could get Trent Williams here but McCoy is way too good for them to pass up here.

10. Seahawks: Trent Williams-OT/Oklahoma

-The Seahawks finally get the Offensive Tackle that they've needed for the past couple years. Williams is a very good Tackle who can help the Seahawks offense that struggles often. They might go with a Runningback here as well, but there is better value at that position later on in the round.

11. 49ers (f/Carolina): Rolando McClain-LB/Alabama

-McClain is the perfect teammate for Patrick Willis. Mike Singletary was a linebacker and is a defensive-minded coach who loves a good linebacker.

12. Jaguars: Dez Bryant-WR/Oklahoma St.

-We've all been waiting for the Jaguars to finally draft a god wide out, and they have finally done it. Dez Bryant will drop this far because of his suspension; he is considered to be more talented than Michael Crabtree and he is still seen as the #1 wide receiver in this draft class.

13. Cowboys: Arrelious Benn-WR/Illinois

-The Boys will be hoping and praying that Dez Bryant falls to them at this spot, but he, most likely, will not slip passed the Jaguars. So they will take the next best available wideout in the draft class.

14. Chargers: Greg Hardy-DE/Ole Miss

-The Chargers need two specific positions. Offensive Tackle and Defensive End. If Trent Williams is still here, it's a no-brainer, but since he isn't, the plan changes a little bit. Greg Hardy is a very polished Defensive End who does everything well. He could stand to gain some weight if he is gonna play as the 3-4 End that the Chargers need. They may look at Marvin Austin here as well to play on their D-line.

15. Dolphins: Brandon Spikes-ILB/Florida

-Spikes is the prototypical linebacker. Big frame (6-3, 258), not great timed speed but he plays fast. Spikes has been very consistent on a Florida defense that is always near the top in the nation. He would reunite with his fellow Gator, Channing Crowder, to help bolster the middle of the Miami Dolphins defense for years to come.

16. Texans: Marvin Austin-DT/UNC

-Austin is not quite at the same level as Suh or McCoy but he is very close behind. The Texans Defense is getting so much better year by year, they could use a Safety, but they really need to fill that D-Tackle spot next to Amobi Okoye. The Texans might also be interested in a Wide Receiver at this spot so if Benn is still available, they'll nab him.

17. Eagles: Navorro Bowman-LB/Penn St

-Navorro Bowman could raise his stock through the season and become the best Linebacker in the draft, but as of right now he will stay where he is. He's the prototype 4-3 outside linebacker. The Eagles have literally all new starters at linebacker this year and could use some more talent at the position.

18. Jets: Jahvid Best-RB/Cal

-Leon Washington becomes a free agent after this year and he's not an every down back that can replace Thomas Jones. Best is a very good value at this point and can help the Jets in the running game and the return game.

19. Broncos (f/Bears): Terrence Cody DT/Alabama

-The Broncos have easily been the biggest surprise of the year in the NFL. With that being said, they still have some holes to fill. What better way to fill a hole than by drafting a man who is 6-5, 360 lbs? Cody is a mountain of a man who was born to be a nose tackle. Cody might get picked up earlier by the Dolphins or any team starting up the 3-4 defense.

20 Cardinals: Jermaine Gresham-TE/Oklahoma

-Gresham will probably drop farther than this due to his injury, but he is just way to talented for the Cards to say no to. They really need a Tight end to open up the field even more and create more plays on offense. The Cardinals might also get a rush Outside Linebacker or a Nose Tackle.

21. Ravens: Brandon LaFell-WR/LSU

-The Ravens have to get a Wide Receiver for Joe Flacco to throw to. Both Derrick Mason and Mark Clayton will become free agents after the year is up. It's not likely that Mason will resign with Baltimore and Clayton is not exactly a #1 option.

22. 49ers: Joe Haden-CB/Florida

-This is a dream scenario for the Niners. If Haden drops to them here, they will have a #1 or #2 corner as their 2nd pick in the first round. They will have used their 2 selection in the first round to get two SEC defenders who will shore up the Niners defense for years to come. Watch for them to look at Colt McCoy at this point if Haden is gone.

23. Bengals: Jared Odrick-DT/Penn St.

-Odrick is a very talented Tackle from Penn State, who always produce great defenders. Odrick will probably fill in a spot on the line opposite of Pat Sims or Domata Peko. The Bengals can go a number of different ways here; they could get a Wide out, Running back,Safety, or even Defensive End.

24. Packers: Bryan Bulaga-OT/Iowa

-The Pack need to shore up their spotty O-Line. Bulaga could move up or move way down in the draft.Bulaga is capable of playing the left or right side of the line and will do a great job protecting Aaron Rodgers.

25. Steelers: Javier Arenas-CB, S/Alabama

-Javier Arenas is so versatile that it's scary. He can play Safety, Cornerback, and return punts and kicks. That is why he is so valuable to a team. He's a great athlete and plays for an outstanding defense. Both of the Steelers starting corners are set to become Free Agents after this season and starting Free Safety Ryan Clark could be on his way out as well.

26. Falcons: Derrick Morgan-DE/Georgia Tech

-The local prospect he a great blend of size and speed. All he does is make plays and sak the quarterback. The Falcons Defensive line has gotten better and what they truly need is a Corner, but at this point they will take the best value. Morgan is a great value and he also fills a need for the Falcons.

27. Patriots: Sergio Kindle-OLB/Texas

-The Pats do it again. New England gets a steal in Kindle. The absolute perfect 3-4 OLB; he was originally a linebacker that moved to defensive end.

28. Giants: Arthur Jones-DT/Syracuse

-Jones is a good prospect at a bad school. He is coming out of the same program that produced Dwght Freeney. Jones will perform wonderfully if he is put around the good players in New York.

29. Seahawks (f/Broncos): Jonathan Dwyer-RB/Georgia Tech

-The Seahawks got their Tackle early on, but they have more needs. Julius Jones looks like a failed experiment in Seattle, so now it's time to bring in Big and Fast Jonathan Dwyer.

30. Vikings: Colt McCoy-QB/Texas

-This is a perfect pickup for the Vikes. They may even go with Tebow or Pike at this point. Whoever the Quarterback may be, they will get a chance to sit back for a year and get used the offense and learn behind Favre. We all saw how well that worked out for Aaron Rodgers.

31. Colts: Patrick Robinson-CB/FSU

- The Colts could really use an Offensive Tackle here but corner could all of a sudden become a big problem. The Pass Defense for Indy, is only average. Having said that, both starters at corner have expiring contracts and may not resign .

32. Saints: Sean Weatherspoon-LB/Missouri

-The Saints finally do it! They get a linebacker in the draft. The Saints do everything well and have good players on their defense but not really any playmakers at the outside linebacker spot.
